From James Cameron: An Apology

Shortly after the release of my monster blockbuster hit, Avatar, the world was hit by a real tragedy of epic proportions: the earthquake in Haiti.

What’s ironic is that my movie portrayed the men and women of the Marine Corps as little more than redneck killers mindlessly following order from those only interested in power.  The fact that the Marines are actually part of a humanitarian mission to relieve human suffering is not lost on me.

To those Marines serving on the USS Bataan, as well as all current and former Marines, I apologize for portraying you as killers, as opposed to the force for good that you really are.

— James Cameron

Okay, I made that up.  Even though the Navy and the Marines are once again a key element of another titanic rescue mission, at the behest of President Obama himself, the haters will never let go of the image that our military is made up of nothing but baby killers.
