So Does This Mean John Hinckley Is Cured?

Today, Ronald Reagan would be 100 years old.  Earlier today, I read this article on John Hinckley, Reagan’s would-be assassin.  In the very last paragraph of the article, it says:

“In June 2009,  a federal judge ruled that Hinckley — who still suffers from narcissistic personality disorder — could spend more time outside the hospital.”

When I read that, I was reminded of a New York Times article I read a few months ago:

“The fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (due out in 2013, and known as DSM-5) has eliminated five of the 10 personality disorders that are listed in the current edition.

“Narcissistic personality disorder is the most well-known of the five …”

Here’s the wikipedia link on the topic:

“The Personality and Personality Work Group has proposed eliminating NPD as a distinct disorder in DSM-5 as part of a major revamping of the diagnostic criteria for personality disorders…”

So if Hinckley has NPD, and NPD is now no longer considered to be a disorder, does that mean he’s cured?
